Modernising NCER’s AGRICULTURE SECTOR

To transform and modernise NCER’s agriculture sector, NCIA is adopting the Anchor Company business model to encourage private sector participation in agriculture projects and groom local farmers at the same time.

Under this business model, companies with an excellent track record will be appointed to spearhead strategic agriculture projects in the region via their respective nucleus farms. The Anchor Companies will also be tasked with providing mentorship to contract farmers and purchasing high-quality output from satellite farms through buyback arrangements.

NCIA is also enhancing its signature Estate Management Model (EMM) for paddy cultivation, which entails land consolidation, introduction of smart farming and cash crop integration.

SUPERFRUITS

Following the success of the Estate Management Model (EMM), NCIA is taking steps to bring the nation’s paddy industry to the next level by introducing EMM 2.0. The main philosophy of EMM 2.0 is to increase paddy yield and subsequently, the farmers’ income, which has been stagnant within the B40 bracket. This will be achieved through the practice of land consolidation, centrally managed estate by the Anchor Company, introduction of precision farming and integration of cash crops as potential side income.
